The Burgess' are officially Colonites (not sure that's a real word :). They arrived on Sunday and are staying at the Sharp's Cottage until they find a house. The kids and I spent a few hours there this morning. It's so relaxing on Dean Lake...very peaceful and serene. It really felt like we were vacationing. I'm not sure why we didn't take advantage of it more often this summer. Here are a few pictures from the day.
Annabelle and Macey having fun with the water table
Bennett thought he'd join inA classic...their clothes got so wet from the water table that they actually spent most of the morning like this :)

"I'm stuck on pizza!"
This is a quote from Bennett. You really had to be there but I'd like to share anyway. We walked to the park the other day. Bennett rode his bike. On our way home, Bennett stopped just ahead of us and yelled, "I'm stuck on pizza!" Well, we did have Darrin's homemade pizza that night for dinner (which is everbody's favorite by the way) so we thought maybe he was referring to dinner, but as we got closer we realized his front tire was stuck on a piece of triangular pizza crust without toppings...apparently someone decided to leave thier lunch on the sidewalk. But anyway, we chuckled the entire way home. I will follow that story up with a few pictures...

ready for a sleepover
We got a bunk bed from our friend Carol and finally got it all set up in Bennett's room. The kids have enjoyed playing on the top but we don't dare let them sleep there. We wanted to see if they would sleep together on the bottom tonight but they kept getting up, so in their cribs they went. We always give Bennett the choice of where to sleep and he always ends up wanting his crib (which is still set up in his room). But we are now prepared for sleepovers. Since Bennett doesn't want to try out the bottom bunk, maybe Macey will be the first to see if it's a cozy sleeping spot. Speaking of cozy sleeping spots, Palmer found a spot he really loved and didn't want to budge...my side of the bed!

website for your viewing pleasure
Here is a video that documents colon during magic week. The clip appears to be done at times but keep watching (if you're not already bored) because it continues.

COLON Where Magic Happens
Colon is the Magic Capital of the world. For one week each year people from all over the world come to the small town of Colon. The magic shops are full and people are enjoying the free/cheap shows. The streets are lined with craft fair tents. Friday night offers a fireworks show after the big magic show at the school (this year they turned a lady into a lion...yes there was a real lion in the high school gym). Literally there are very famous magicians from all over the world who come to Colon every year. And for once a year, Colon, Michigan is guaranteed to make the news. So, if anyone is interested in a unique experience, come to Colon next August and see for yourself that Magic really happens in Colon!!
Had to add this one just for fun.
On a different note~
There will be some changes for the VandenBerg household this coming school year. Darrin is now the part time athletic director for the high school. He actually starts work on Monday. We are thankful for the increase in pay that this job means but are nervous for all the time it will take. He is looking forward to the challenge and is excited to be in the classroom for only 3 class periods per day. I have made it through 3 LONG wrestling seasons on my own, 2 of which were with very newborn babies but am incredibly thankful that Jenny will be here this year to keep me sane with her adult interaction. Jenny, I think God knew that there were more reasons for you to move here than just so Jason could teach. So, needless to say we will be attending MANY high school sporting events this year so we can spend time with our husband/dad. We look forward to and embrace the change with a positive attitude and are excited for the possibilities it can bring. But anyway. I'm off to bed. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'll post again soon.
