Weekend at Home

This weekend was a busy weekend at home with our mom and dad. Dad finished putting in the window that Grandma and Grandpa VandenBerg brought for us a few weekends ago. Thank you! It looks really nice. While we still had the scaffolding, our dad took down the black shutters and painted them green so they would all match and then painted the top of the front of the porch white (instead of black). It looks great. Our house has seen tremendous improvement, both inside and out, since we first moved in only 2 years ago. Mom put us in charge of picking up the scraps of things that fell into the yard during installation, while she swept and touched up the front steps where blobs of white paint fell. We took our job very seriously.

Mom spent a lot of time in the kitchen this weekend. She said she hates to be wasteful so she made homemade applesauce with apples from a friend's tree (it is SO good), and she froze tomatoes from our garden to put in sauces and soups during the winter. Dad just yelled to mom that he has 8 more tomatoes for her on the counter. Agh! We have an overload!

This coming week is homecoming and we are really looking forward to it. Dad organized a powder puff football game this year with a bonfire to follow. That's on Tuesday night. Friday consists of a pep assembly which mom said we can go to if she thinks we can skip a nap, then a parade through town with the homecoming court at 5:00, then the game. We love going to football games. There are so many kids to run around and play with. But a real highlight is when dad takes us on the golf cart to run an errand with him, and when we get to hear Dad's voice over the speakers and we actually think he's in there. Lot's of exciting things at a football game, that's for sure!! I guess that's it for now. Love you all! Bennett and Annabelle

A scrapbook of events

On Tuesday the kids and I made a trip to the fair to look at the animals. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun! Here they are enjoying their carmel apples. I sure did get a lot of looks with Carly in the backpack and Bennett and Annabelle in the jogging stroller. I can't imagine how many looks and comments you'd get with multiples! After the fair, we went to McDonald's for lunch which was a special treat. The kids know when we go there they get chocolate milk...a real highlight!

On Saturday we had Jenny, Jason and the girls over to watch the Michigan game. Here are our Michigan fans. Annie was being much more cooperative. In the picture with the cookies... Bennett is saying "thank you" to the person that made them for us :)...hence the goofy look.

p.s. If you'd like to see photos from Friday's football game, link to Jenny's blog.

Left and Right

Ever since the kids were really little, everytime Darrin gets them dressed he tells them "left arm, right leg," etc. and if they start putting the wrong leg into the pants, Darrin will stop them. Well, this little routine has paid off as we just realized the other night that Bennett does know his left from right...at least when it comes to his arms and legs. Way to go Bennett (and Dad)! Here is a video that I'm not sure you can see...

The farm and football

Despite the drizzle yesterday, we had a great day!! Our good friends Mark and Carol have a farm and took the time to plant pumpkins for the kids. The pumpkins were ready a little early so we had to pick them yesterday so they wouldn't rot. They look so nice on our porch stairs....and we got some cute pictures in the process. The kids also picked apples off the ground to feed to Pepperoni the horse. It was the first time Macey and Kelsey got to experience Sharp's Farm. It's always a great experience for the kids.

After the farm, the kids took a good nap and Jenny and I made t-shirts for them to wear to the football game. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera but the teacher in charge of yearbook took some really cute ones. She will be emailing them to me so I will post those later. Have a great weekend!!! Love the VandenBergs

I have to explain this look. It's the "I'm proud of myself. I hope somebody notices but yet I'm embarrassed" look :).
