Here are a few pictures I inteded to post with the previous post but forgot. Darrin and Bennett are putting together our garden boxes. They planted broccoli, tomatoes, green pepper, green beans, cucumbers, and I think one or two other vegetables. They were planted late in the season and from seeds so we're not expecting too much this year. We'd be happy with just a few fresh veggies. Next year we'll have a plentiful garden!

getting caught up...
I haven't posted in a while so I came up with a list of rather random things that tell a little bit about the last couple of weeks. Here it goes...
1. The way your toddler looks after trying to squeeze all of her chub into a bathing suit...PRICELESS
2. Hearing a tiny voice say "bye-bye erm (worm)" after she had been staring it down for a good minute and a half will definitely melt your heart.
3. Coming home from work in the morning and finding your two year old, with a bowl and vitamin in hand, trying to make a choice of cereal... this will make you laugh for the rest of the day. Please note that the vitamins and bowls are in a cupboard up high and Darrin was still sound asleep. "Mommy, I's hungry" was the response I got. I had to make sure he only took one vitamin as they also have flouride in them :).
4. Finding your two year old cleaning up a potty mess on the bathroom floor with tiny bits of toilet paper and his bare feet will make you laugh...the following day.
5. Camping takes on a whole new meaning when you have kids. Don't bother bringing a book.
6. I like Dora and Diego as much as the kids do.
7. By 6:00 p.m. you realize it was a big mistake to let the kids sweet talk you out of taking a nap.
8. We are happy Darrin doesn't start his summer job until after July 4th because otherwise we wouldn't have been able to do swimming lessons, which was so fun (last day was today).
9. I love grocery shopping when there are good sales and using coupons. Today I got a box of Honey Bunches of Oats Ceareal for free!! When the sales aren't good, I love Aldi!
10. If you want to laugh until you cry, check out the toilet with the bedet (I can't remember right now how to spell it) at New Holland Brewing Company. Thankfully Ron was the one using it!
11. I'm thankful to be staying home this weekend and doing NOTHING!!!!!
That's it. Here are a few pictures of swimming and camping...Oh...the last one is of Miss Macey and I took it when she stopped by my mom's house a couple weeks ago. I just thought it was cute.

We're getting new neighbors...
Okay, as mentioned in my previous post, our friends Jenny and Jason came last Tuesday. Well, aside from just getting together, Jason had an interview for a math position at the high school. He was given a second interview and was offered the job today!!! The beauty of living in a small community and knowing the principal is that you are able to call her at home when you see on the caller id that she has called from school but is no longer there. Then when you reach her at home, she asks if she can come over to talk to Jason. It sure did make me nervous. Darrin and I sat on our deck while the principal gave Jenny and Jason the good news. Jenny came out to tell us they were moving to Colon (all while the principal was there watching). It was a very fun moment. One I will never forget. Can't wait until you get here guys...
Here are a few things I want to mention for those worried about the distance...
My mom comes to visit on most Wednesdays during the school year for those who would like to come along (Brenda...can't wait to see you more often).
The drive seems to get shorter every time you make it.
We seem to be in town on a very regular basis and see everyone just (or at least almost) as often as we would if we lived in Holland or the surrounding area and I know that it would be the same for Jenny and Jason.
If you come to visit, you are likely to see a few Amish people which is always fun.
Thank goodness for email, blogs, and myspace.
Guess that's it for now. For those who would like to see pictures from the day, click on the Burgess family link from my link list. Jenny will have them posted tomorrow. I was not prepared and didn't have batteries for my camera charged.

Tuesday
On Tuesday, our friends Jenny and Jason with their girls, Macey and Kelsey, came over for a visit. Jason and Darrin played golf and Jenny and I just hung around the house with the kids. The weather was kind of gloomy so we didn't get outside. When the guys got back we had hamburgers on the grill. They left after dinner. Thanks for coming guys!! Here are some pictures of what happened right AFTER they left...
